Check out The Mariposa Mysteries Trilogy

The trilogy follows the adventures of a group of seventh-graders, providing coming-of-age stories that focus on issues that include bullying, drugs, and the importance of friendship.

The trilogy is set in the fictional town of Mariposa in Central Ontario, Canada, originally created by renowned Orillia author Stephen Leacock for his ‘Sunshine Sketches of a Little Town’ series.

“I was definitely thinking of Orillia when I wrote the stories,” says Hudson. “I needed to change some aspects of the town to suit the storyline, however, so I renamed it Mariposa in honour of Stephen Leacock. I’m presuming he wouldn’t mind!”

The book is receiving solid five-star reviews on Amazon, and was the recipient of the Literary Titan Gold Book Award.

“A fast-paced coming-of-age adventure novel that infuses magic and adventure into the story in inventive and captivating ways. This is the type of story I loved when I was younger. With some unforgettable scenes, inspired characters, and a fun storyline, this book will entertain anyone.” ~ Literary Titan

“Hudson interweaves intrigue, magic, and adolescent drama to fashion an expertly woven and enchanting middle grade fantasy.” BookView Review

“What a great read even for a wizened adult! There are important life lessons to be learned here. And Ms. Hudson teaches them in an entertaining and non-preachy story by the art of showing, not telling.” ~ Readers’ Favorite

The Mariposa Mysteries Trilogy is available for purchase in print and e-Book formats on Amazon.

About the Author:  After teaching middle school for 25 years, Val is now retired but still stuck in that mindset, particularly when it comes to storytelling in the fantasy genre. Stories of evil spirits, wizards and ghosts are constantly running around in her head, which can be somewhat of an interference when she’s working at her other job: serious copywriting gigs for grownups. Based in Ontario, Canada, Val is a truly awful cook but a voracious reader.
